Chai Pe Kahani — Polymer Bank Notes ka India Mein Debut

Purse mein pada ghisa hua das ka note ek chhoti si problem lagta hai. Lekin uske peeche hai ek saal mein 25% badhta printing bill, seigniorage ka ganit, RBI Act ke do sections, aur ek 2 billion note ka trial — jise 1988 mein Australia ne shuru kiya tha aur India ab join kar raha hai.

Chai Pe Kahani — Purse Ka Woh Ghisa Hua Das Ka Note

Chaliye ek fresh cup chai leke baithte hain, aur aaj ek bahut hi interesting kahani sunte hain — India ke currency notes ki.

Kahani shuru hoti hai ek simple observation se. Aap kabhi apne purse mein 10 rupees ka note dekhiye — kitna crumpled hoga, kaisa gala-sadha, corners phate hue, ink faded. Ab yehi note dukaandaar ko dijiye, woh muh banayega: "Bhai saab, koi doosra note hai kya?"

Yeh scene ghar-ghar ki kahani hai. Aur yehi scene RBI ke liye ek badi headache ban chuka tha.

Toh sarkar aur RBI ne socha, "Kuch alag try karte hain." Aur woh alag cheez hai — polymer bank notes.

Chaliye poori kahani samajhte hain — kya, kyun, kaise, aur kaun kar raha hai.

News Mein Kya Hai?

Sarkar ne RBI ko permission de di hai ki woh 2 billion polymer notes ka field trial kare. Isme se 1 billion notes 10 rupees ke honge aur 1 billion notes 20 rupees ke honge. Yeh announcement Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary ne Parliament mein ki. Trial successful hua toh regular issuance shuru ho jaayegi.

Ab yeh trial kyun? Kyunki sarkar seedha production mein nahi jaana chahti. Pehle real-world testing hogi — asli logon ke haath mein note jaayega, asli purse mein, asli garmi mein, asli pasine mein. Agar note tikte hain, fake notes nahi banaye ja sakte, durability achi rahti hai — tab aage badhenge.

Yeh scientific approach hai, aur yahi sahi bhi hai.

Polymer Notes Kyun Chahiye?

Yeh samajhne ke liye humein RBI ki purani problem samajhni hogi.

Existing notes 100% cotton rag se bante hain. Is cotton note ki life sirf 1 se 2 saal ki hoti hai — especially chhote denominations jaise 10 aur 20 rupees, jo sabse zyada haath badalte hain. Sabziwala, chaiwala, auto wala — inhi choti notes ka use karte hain. Toh yeh note ghiste hain sabse tez, phatte hain sabse pehle, aur RBI ko replace bhi karne padte hain sabse zyada.

Ab dekhiye printing cost ka scene. FY25 mein currency printing par kharcha ho gaya ₹6,372.8 crore, jo FY24 mein ₹5,101.4 crore tha. Matlab ek hi saal mein taqreeban 25% ka jump. Ab RBI soch rahi hai — "Bhai, itna paisa toh sirf notes banane mein ja raha hai, koi solid solution nikaalo."

Polymer note ki expected life hai cotton note se kam se kam 4 guna zyada. Upfront cost thodi zyada hai — polymer substrate mehnga hai — lekin lambe samay mein ganit clear hai. Ek baar zyada kharcha karo, phir 4 saal tak wahi note chalta rahe.

Yeh hai economic logic.
